It’s starting to get warmer in New York, but if you are craving heat without a flight involved, head to the hot houses at The New York Botanical Garden.
As until the 22nd April, you can view The Orchid Show, an incredible display of thousands of colourful and unusual orchids. This exhibition is truly amazing as you are led through a maze of beautiful flowers with incredible tropical scents.
And if you fancy adding a cocktail to the adventure, head there on a Saturday evening from 6.30pm to enjoy a special evening of music among the orchids. Surely this is the perfect date night!
Or if you want to improve your green fingers check out the schedule of events including orchid care and expert led Q&A sessions. And head to the shop afterwards to pick out your favourite orchid to take home.
The Orchid Show is designed by Francisca P. Coelho, Vivian and Edward Merrin Vice President for Glasshouses and Exhibitions at the Garden. This is the 11th time the exhibition has been held at The New York Botanical Garden and this year it is sponsored by The Tiffany & Co Foundation.

We have eaten at The John Dory on a number of occasions as it’s our nearest fabulous restaurant. Mostly it’s been our go to place as a Saturday lunch treat.
Set in the Ace Hotel, the restaurant is super cool and quirky. With fish hanging everywhere, a colourful bar and high tables and seating, it always feels buzzy and fun.

And the food is amazing and delicious. My faves are the anchovy and soft boiled egg, the spanish mackerel with chili, cilantro and squid crackling, the kedgeree and of course some oysters. Alongside a fabulous glass of crisp white wine, Saturdays can’t really get any better.

Yellow was a popular accent colour on the catwalks for S/S13 so I thought we should look at how to introduce it in to our interior spaces. I love yellow, ever since buying a bright yellow watch 5 years ago. And now when I see it I am instantly drawn to it. It’s such a happy colour.
